About Thomas R. Feder, DDS
Thomas R. Feder was lucky enough to have been born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from USC Dental School in 1980, and started his dental practice in Santa Monica the next year. Dr. Feder has been a part time faculty member at USC since graduation. During the '80s, he spent about half time teaching in the departments of Emergency, Oral Diagnosis, and prosthodontics, and the other half time developing a practice in the Santa Monica area. Dr Feder also taught at UCLA, in the department of Hospital Dentistry for two years in the mid 80's, and spent 7 years serving the community on the West Los Angeles Dental Society's Peer Review Committee.
Dr. Feder met his soul mate, Dr. Mavash Navazesh at USC in 1987. She had then just moved from the University of Pennsylvania, and was volunteering in USC's Oral Medicine Department. She is now head of that department, as well as the devoted mother of two wonderful daughters, Daisy (13), and Lilly (11). Dr. Feder joined the Santa Monica Kiwanis Club in 1985, and was active in the community until the birth of his first child, Daisy, in December, 1989. He remains a Kiwanis on leave to this day, and hopes to become more active as the duties of raising a family lessen. Both daughters are active members of the Santa Monica Surf Club Basketball Team. In July, 2003, Lilly's 10 year old team was ranked 2nd in the Southern California region, and was invited to compete in the AAU National Finals in Orlando Florida. They not only competed, they placed second in the United States!
We call our office Paradise Dental because that's what it is for us, and that's what we will strive to make it for you! Also, we like the irony; most folks don't use paradise and dentistry in the same sentance. We just have one rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", and feel, if we follow closely, we can approach Paradise for our Patients and ourselves! We hope you will agree, and join us.
